About the Foundation
Each year, 35 cyclists are killed and over 2,500 are seriously injured on our roads. The majority of these accidents involve a motor vehicle. Many more incidents go unreported.
For the past five years, bike sales have exceeded car sales with in excess of 1.1million bikes sold per year. As more and more people are turning to bicycle riding for health and transport needs, the potential* for cyclist fatalities on our roads increases. All road users need to be wary of the potential dangers of mixing cars and bikes. That’s why we want to spread our message...

* Recent statistics show that even though the number of cyclists on the road has increased, the number of injuries has not - cyclists are becoming more road savvy and motorists are giving cyclists the respect they require. Noticable blips occur (driver aggression towards cyclists) when someone like Miranda or Michael Duffy goes off the beam or when some concerted effort is made in the media to scapegoat cyclists for the woes of the motoring public.
