Hazards and Issues

These are the issues and hazards we are currently following up with Council or the relevant authority

Hazards can be reported to us by emailing mailto:massbug**(at)**massbug.org.au (Replace**(at)** with @) and could include bike unsafe drainage grates, bollards too close to allow access, or any of the sort of issues you see below.

Marrickville	Reported Apr04. Will be done 2005/06.	Margaret St at Reiby	Need ramps through closure (John)

Marrickville	Parks&Reserves "will fix" (21/4/05)	ODea Reserve	Path not accessible for wheelchairs or bikes - replace with standard bollards with 1.4m gap
Marrickville	Dec04 Bike C'tee. Council has asked contractors to remove cateyes.	Alice St	Poor surface join & RRPMs ("cateyes") in bicycle operating space since resurfacing
Marrickville	Reported Apr04. Next driveway considered sufficient. Report parking to rangers.	Hoskins Park	Piggott St exit has no ramp & driveway parked out - fix with current park work
RTA/CoS	Mar04 Sydney Traffic C'tee	Bray St crossing of King St	No default walk phase and so stops King St traffic to get a green man to cross Bray St (John)
CoS (RSO?)	Email sent 25/4/05	Concord St crossing of King St	Ramp/path is too narrow (85cm gap) for wheelchair & no pedestrian crossing at lights signal (John)
Marrickville	Reported Apr04. Difficult due to drainage/service issues. KC & Nick to investigate.	Closure of Camden at Clara	Need ramp access through closure (John). Residents support ramp near footpath (services hatches make it difficult to put ramp further north)
Marrickville	Reported Apr04. KC will raise signage at traffic c'tee. Nov05 Traffic C'tee approved installation of No Stopping signs.	Closure of Station St	Ramp on King St side needs keep clear marking to prevent illegal parking (John)
Botany	Letters to Mayor since early 2004. Letter to CEO RTA from BNSW & MCC on 14/4/05	Bourke St, Mascot	Dangerous RRPMs ('cateyes') all the way across road (Owen)
Botany	Letter sent to GM by email 25/4/05	Coward St 90 degree turn	Request any future development of old Simsmetal site dedicates land at the corner for a proper turn.
Marrickville	Email 6/1/05	Tempe Rail Underpass	Request flood warning sign and alternative route map (Noel)

Send your suggestions for hazards that need fixing to us at mailto:massbug**(at)**massbug.org.au (Replace**(at)** with @). The development of the bikeplan this year should also offer opportunities to make major, larger scale improvements, so include any suggestions for bigger issues or routes.

Here are some of the excellent things that Marrickville Council has done:

A green right turn bike lane in Llewellyn St at Enmore Road
Bicycle traffic lights at all three arms of the intersection of Edinburgh Road and Smidmore Street, near Marrickville Metro.
