Bike Maintenance

Bike Maintenance Help and Recycling at the Newtown Bike Club. This group recycles old bikes. You can drop off parts or unwanted bikes or they can pick up from you. They have a bike workshop every Monday from 2pm til dark where people can drop in and use tools to fix their bike. There is also someone there to show you how fix it. They are a community based group which hopes to eventually have bikes freely available for community use. They aim to make bike riding a viable option for everyone. Alexandra Canal

Massbug and Marrickville Council had an on-site meeting at the Alexandra Canal on 13th January to look at the possibility of a western-side route, linking Tempe Reserve and Sydney Park. We found that it looks promising, with no major difficulties and will discuss funding and timing issues at the Bicycle Committee meeting in mid-Feb.

We're optimistic that the majority of Councillors see the value in providing well for non-congesting, non-polluting, health-promoting transport.
