In acknowledgement of South Sydney's merger into the City of Sydney Council and of Bike Sydney's reinvigoration, massbug hands over responsibility for the previous South Sydney territory to Bike Sydney. We will keep the name MASSBUG and keep supporting Bike Sydney's work especially in areas where we have history and knowledge. We encourage everyone from the City of Sydney Council area to get involved in BikeSydney and contribute to a new era for Sydney. MASSBUG will be able to concentrate on the development of the new Marrickville Bike Plan and on our priority project - the Iron Cove to Cooks River GreenWay.

Marrickville Council is developing a new bike plan. This is a great opportunity for input from every corner of the LGA so that we can collectively (community, massbug, council) come up with a high standard, second generation plan. The fantastic South Sydney Bike Plan (see below) is our inspiration. If you would like to be kept in the loop and/or have suggestions for what needs to be done in your street or neighbourhood, please email us on mailto:massbug**(at)**massbug.org.au (Replace**(at)** with @)

The RTA's Alexandra Canal Cycleway between Airport Drive and Coward Street is almost completely covered by waist high grass and noxious weeds in some parts now, as Botany Council and the RTA each claim the other has responsibility for maintenance. Unless they can sort it out very soon, MASSBUG will co-ordinate a working bee to clean it up and bill them both. The path was originally 3m wide, now down to 30cm wide in the first photo.
UPDATE: The RTA did finally fix up the path on 2nd June and did an excellent job.

MASSBUG and BikeSydney have joined forces to look after the amalgamated City of Sydney Council area for now. All candidates have received a letter (City version / Marrickville version) asking their position on cycling issues and resonses have been assessed. All the responses are no longer available on-line, but are available on request.
