Self-Guided Rides and Ride Maps

For those who would like to relive a previous ride or test a new one and offer some feedback. These rides compliment those found in Cycling Around Sydney, by Bruce Ashley and others guide books.

You will also find here some of the maps etc for rides Massbug, and BikeSydney, have organised over recent years. (Just in case my computer crashes, yet again!)

Participation in Massbug and BikeSydney rides is free and open to all, with minimum requirements such as roadworthy bicycle, approved helmet, etc., Check the Calendar page for more rides and details.

MASSBUG RIDES

• Sustainability Ride - Marrickville 2005.pdf skirting the edges of the LGA and diving into the centre at Addison Road Markets.

• Sustainable Cities - Newtown 2007 - alt.pdf During 2007 the Erskinville Road bridge at the rail line will be closed for repairs. This map contains an alternative route.

• Medal Pedal 2007.pdf Marrickville to Iron Cove bridge to Erskinville. Takes in assortment of Marrickville Medal winners and nominees, Callan Park, Green Ban sites.

• Signers 2007 Auslan-interpreted tours of Art Gallery of NSW exhibitions happen on last Sunday of the Month. Hearing people welcome.

• Sydney Art Ride 2008.pdf Updated version of the Sculpture Ride better suited to a Sunday afternoon. Closest yet to a Sustrans ride... within cooee of the TAB at Ultimo and pass right by the front door of the Starr City Casino.

• Sustainable Marrickville 08 final.pdf Updated version of previous rides with expert guest speakers on the day.

• Syd Sculpt 2007 REVISED.pdf March 2007 - The Notes to the Sydney Sculpture Ride, revised so they can be printed on one page. Print using best resolution to get detail on the map. • Zetland Ride 2007.pdf The stars in the night sky form the Milky Way... the moon is made of green cheese... the Southern Cross is not all that angry... so come for a ride. What is it about dairy products and far flung nuclear reactions.

• Cafe 2007.pdf Originally devised by Matt for Saturday morning rides - when the cafes would be open - this ride can be done at any time of day with a friend or three. The map might need some updating tho as the speed at which some cafes open and close is blindingly fast.

• CBD 2007.pdf A saunter through the CBD, just right for a spectacular sunset/twilight ride.

• Summer Solstice 07.pdf Summer Solstice thumbnail map and suggested timing... neither massbug or bikesydney endorses trespassing on Eastlakes Golf Course either to view the newly rehabilitated Mill Ponds or the regenerated wetlands. These squiggles on the map are only a desire line, until such time as the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Council's preferred Centennial Park to Botany Wetlands (Mill Ponds) trail is completed.
