Wilson St Newtown

05/09/2002

The council has notified us that this road will be upgraded.

26/02/2002

Wilson St is major sub-regional cycle route running roughly parallel to the dangerously busy King St part of the Princes Highway which divides the South Sydney and Marrickville LGAs.

Early in January 2002 South Sydney Council (SSC) alerted MASSBUG to their plans to change the width of Wilson St Newtown between Burren and Fitzroy Streets.

MASSBUG has studied the area and met with local residents to provide a submission (rtf, 159kb) to SSC Traffic Committee. Our initial proposal was revised with an addendum (rtf, 9kb) due to the technical difficulty of placing the curb directly above the water main.

With our representation to councillors objecting to the engineers planned road narrowing, the item was deffered from the 20/2/2002 committee.
